I stumbled across this interesting concept of open making:

https://www.opendesk.cc/

They connect makers, designers and users of CAD/CNC furniture in a new way. The basic idea is to make good designs available for purchase online and have them cut (for instance on a 'Bot!) close to the customer.
Many of the designs they feature are free for private use and could be very inspiring for Shopbotters who have an interest in CNC furniture.

Thanks Konrad.

Have you seen this? ShopBot's 100k Garages (http://www.100kgarages.com/)

I think it was the very first implementation of the distributed manufacturing model, but not 100% on that. It has been around for many years.

I believe that OpenDesk is part of 100K Garages, neat designs very free flowing. Russ

I wrote up a little on Opendesk/100kGarages collaboration at the Maker faire for the ShopBot blog http://www.shopbotblog.com/2015/10/makelocal-distributed-local-manufacturing-at-the-ny-maker-faire/

They are great designers and are a treat to work with...we're looking at other collaborations to try to keep the idea of local manufacturing front-and-center.
