Spindle Repair

Dear ShopBotters,

I was wondering if anyone has attempted, and further had success, repairing their spindles. My spindle has seized from what feels like bearings which have gone. I have a replacement now, but I was wondering if it would be worthwhile having a shop have a look at the repair, so that I can retain a spare (refurbished).

I understand that some are not worth rebuilding while others may be, please post the model, etc so those with experience can weigh in.
