All I did was letter the new pan faces I ordered to replace the old ones they didn't want anymore......and ordered and installed the Al anodized gold 1/4" thick letters from Gemini. (vector art supplied by me, provided by my customer)
We did have to remove the old letters from the existing granite monument, clean the old glue (silicone) and make it all blend. Yes there was a lot of fading on the whole slab except where the old letters were keeping it nice and shiny. I was lucky that I had a friend who knew the right granite countertop company to call. It is amazing what some rubber gloves and good solvents can do.

Thanks Bob, I did very well on this job. But also this was my first job for them and I am led to believe there is tons of signage needed on a regular bases on the inside of the plant. They were very happy with the finished product so I added another good local customer. They found me with a Google search he said.

My recommendation is to have your contact fwd over your information to whomever handles the signs inside the plant. Often they are not the same people. Also see if you can arrange a meet and greet. It's very common in large companies like this for several people to order from several different vendors.
As for the project, what made you go with anodized aluminum letters instead of acrylic, pvc, or painted aluminum? Obviously all of those materials could be cut on your bot instead of sending it out to Gemini.

Ross,
That's a good idea. I will give my contact from this job a call this week and see what he can do. You are right though because I do just a little bit of work for the Kia plant just next door for only two different contacts, yet another sign shop locally does a ton of stuff inside the Kia plant.
On this project I really wanted to take some brushed .040 Aluminum, laminate it to 1/4" thick acrylic, cut it on the bot, paint the edges gold and it would have looked just as good IMO from as far away as it was viewed from and saved them money. But they wanted "EXACTLY" what was already there which was of course 1/4" thick aluminum anodized. The Mobis logo was there already but showed some age when looked at up close. They changed to "Hyundai Mobis" So the easiest thing to do was to tell them I will make everything new. They also went from a mirror polish look to a brushed face look.
The crazy thing is that I am a control freak, and as good as Gemini is I was still worried to death something would be messed up and I would have no time to fix it since the deadline to complete was the end of the year. But in the end, I had one long day out there to install the letters, and the pan faces. No in shop production time, so I was able to still crank out my usual stuff while the big job was being fabricated. I am still working alone, although I did have a helper all day on this install so it just worked out real well for me on this. I also told them as part of my bid that I would handle disposing of the old pan faces and the old letters......well I am going to take the old aluminum letters to the scrap yard and see what I can get for them. They have some weight to them and are 28" tall. I have no idea what the scrap AL might be worth but anything will be an extra bonus.
