I have a standard 24" x 32" ShopBot "Buddy" CNC. I have had a 5Hp Colombo spindle that recently shot craps to the point a rebuild will be necessary... the funds aren't quite there so I'm trying to keep things running. I have an almost brand new Porter Cable 1.75 Hp router that I'd like to use for a little while. Does anyone have suggetions and/or some up close pix of what they are successfully using ?
Thank you

I'm sure you are aware that the Porter Cable 1.75hp cannot handle the load that a 5hp Spindle can so you would have to modify your files (IMHO). You will also need to get the mount from Shopbot to be able to mount it. Years ago on a older PRT I used to own I used the Porter Cable 7518 ( 3 1/4hp) router with good results.

if you google cnc router mount, and click the images, you'll find hundreds of ideas. It wouldn't take much to fab up something out of plywood as a temp solution to machine something on the cnc that's more permanent. The original PR machines mounted the PC routers with 3 hose clamps. Search for a heavy duty hose clamp on amazon.
