There will be a Shopbot sponsored User’s Group meeting at my shop in Austin, Texas on February 26th and 27th. Although this gathering will focus on more advanced techniques and topics than the typical Camp it is open to everyone from potential Shopbotters to long time experienced users. All are welcome and valued.

At this point there will be presentations on carving and turning on the indexer, inlay techniques for indexer and flat projects, nonferrous metal cutting on the Shopbot, sign making, Shopbot joinery on large live edge slabs, and the use and construction of a solar kiln. More topics are being developed and will be announced when they are finalized. If you have any expertise, interesting techniques, skills, etc. which you would like to share please send me an email because I am constantly trolling for presenters. Likewise, if you have an interest in a topic you would like to see let me know and I will try to find someone to do a presentation.

In the previous Austin Camps “Show and Tell” has been a high point with many projects shown. The User’s Group is no different and everyone is encouraged to bring items to show.

My shop is located in Southwest Austin at 9000 Feather Hill Rd., Austin, TX 78737. The Friday session will begin at 10AM and the Saturday session will begin at 9AM. Donuts and coffee will be provided in the morning and lunch will be provided both days.

The weather this weekend should be perfect, clear and 70’s for the Shopbot User’s Group. Friday the confab will begin at 10AM and Saturday at 9AM. Donuts and coffee will be provided in the mornings and lunch will also be provided. If you haven’t registered please do so.


The address of my shop is 9000 Feather Hill Rd., Austin, TX 78737. It is fairly easy to get to, off of Hwy 290 in SW Austin and is easily googled or gps’ed. Parking is along the street and the shop is in the back down the driveway and around the garage. Please don’t park in the driveway.

Thanks Wayne for hosting this great event every year. It was great to see some of the old faces and meet some new. Thanks to all the presenters, they were all inspiring. And thanks to the ones that brought show and tell. My personal favorites were the guitar with the back and sides made of Oregon Myrtle, and the music stand made of bent lamination and a very good mechanism.
