Just a note.
If you have an 'Old' machine (didn't realize that shop tools got old, My shopbot is third in line for being my NEW equipment) PRT ALPHA prior to about 2010 you too may run into this. My computer went down so I bought a new one with Win 10. Shut down everything that might interfer with ShopBot then tried to load the system. I couldn't get the com port to start right. After several communications with ShopBot service and then IOGear I decided to call IOGear and see what they knew. He said that Win 10 did not support the chip in the older GUC232A adapter cables. I ordered one from Amazon for $14.41 plus $22.00 shipping and it is back up and running after a few days of pulling my hairs (all 10 of them). If your going to upgrade your 'Old" machine to Win 10 you may want to have a New style USB to Serial cable on hand before you try. ISGear can tell you from the serial number located on the bottom of the plug.
