At 9am the second Desktop was up and running after it's test trials.
1 hour and twenty minutes later it was in the pick-up truck in it's MakerCrate.
20 mile drive and 2 hours later and it C3'd and the spindle was warmed up.
Ya can't tell it was hot work, and Ron's happy as a clam to have it in his shop...Can Ya? :)
Ron will be doing all the production work, and he and His Niece Kelly will be taking over the Company on July 1'st.
3 part time jobs created:)
I'll still be prototyping and helping out, But Ron is learning quick and has the bug now like so many of us!
Gotta love how rugged and portable the Desktop is with only 2 guys helping.
Showed Bonnie(our finisher) the pic of the new dress code I should adopt from Ron....She said she'd quit:)
Oh well, at least I've got that spare room back to fill with more "Stuff".

Of course it helped that we have now have identical spoilboards/fences/backerboards, and HDO substrate was within .005".
Nice to make a file, and then slap in a blank and know it works 20 miles away:)
Bill Young's dowel holes were key!

Ouch, put a shirt on, ruined my old eyes. LOL, just kidding, glad to hear things are going good. Now maybe you will have time for personal projects, ...

That ain't me Joe, I generally take pity on people and keep a shirt on:)
Trying to lay out this one in pic, and the 3 bear cubs in the woods that Dan did such a great job on.
of course they'll be smallish :)

Yep David, not a bad deal for him to do sweat equity for 4 months at my house and then get the machine, customers, files Gratis.
He has a VERY positive attitude, and works for the local Pratt-Whitney plant in the jigging department. That meant he didn't have to start from square 1.
Almost a full wood workshop, and he appreciates quality and loves wood:)
He's over the moon about having it up and running in his shop:)
Still has a lot of curve to go on VCP8, but catching on quick!

Scott,
I am going to try to cut something today (3D I hope). I just need to get a new air hose to put the final touch on my upgrades I installed thanks to Gary Campbell. I bought the belt reduction system from Gary for the X & Y and a new BallScrew Z to replace my old 4 bearing shopbot Z. I bought my current shopbot 2005 Alpha used and since then have been slowly replacing parts, hopefully this is the last.
Let me know how you make out with the "Green Man", I need to cut one for my wife soon..

Wound up carving the Bears yesterday Joe.
Green Hippie calculating now in an oval dish, I'll carve today if I can get it right and find the right piece of wood.
Thanks Tom. Hope their company grows well!

Here you go Joe.
Just came off machine, and was in a rush when initial file was made as an appt. was cancelled and I winged the border and never noticed the nodes on the boundary:(
Did pretty good on the heartwood/sapwood depth though:)
Think I would do raster against the grain next time, as the offset toolpath had too much time going with the grain and cause fuzzies I'm simply not used to.
Walnut, no roughing, 30 degree Onsrud engraving .01" flat at 20% step.

Scott,
That is really nice, I did 2 Tuesday but haven't cleaned them up yet. These were using a 1/16 BN and some old maple going with the grain. I am going to try your settings later this week and will let you know how they come out.
