Hi all

I need to open a file to lay it out and I am not doing something correctly. I have it in DXF format that I opened in VCP8 but it don't look right, all I see is the front of the box - had to open it in model view

I also have it in DWG format and have AccuTrans 3D but it wont open it.

Please give me some guidance.

Thanks
Tim

Is your material size large enough to accommodate the drawing? Have you tried Zoom to Fit? Sometimes when I import a DXF it is way out in left field somewhere and may not be visible...joe

What software are you trying to use to view the dxf? If you are using Aspire/partworks they don't handle three d files at all. You'll need to lay it out in Cad first and then import as a 2d drawing unless you're trying an STL at which time it's a different kettle of fish.

There are more than one free dxf and dwg «viewer» application available. I suggest doing a google search with «autodesk dxf viewer» and download the application from autodesk. You will then be able at least to verify what's in the file.

Thank you for the replies and the "different kettle of fish" :D

I think I was thinking wrong (again) I believe what I am looking at is just the front of a box and customer needs 3D cut

I was looking for complete box :-(

Thanks for your help
