I am developing a vacuum table that will fit on to my shopbot. I do not want a full size table, rather this will be about 2 ft. by 2 ft. I plan to have it arranged so that I can plop it on to the spoilboard when I need it and store it when I don't.
Before I completely pipe it I want to run it with flexible hose.
Anybody got any suggestions? This first thing that came to mind is swimming pool hose.

I have several made like that, I just pop in the hose that my fein came with, pool hose should work unless you are pulling a lot more inches than the vac I think my fein pulls around 6-7 inches last time I put a gauge on it.

How much vacuum do you need for a decent hold down?

That depends on surface area and cut aggressiveness a 1 sq foot piece is hard to pull off even with a shop vac for smaller pieces I us a stronger vacuum pump that pulls 22-25 inches but not the volume to recover from leakage.
There are many on this site more qualified to get into the specifics than me

Like Brian mentioned, if using a vacuum just use the hose. If using a vacuum pump a 1/4" or 3/8" hose is fine.
