View Full Version : Vcarve Pro not reversing direction on last pass
Tried using the "do last pass" and "reverse direction" feature in VCPro in the profile tool path window, but it is not reversing. Generated path and went to preview at slow speed to verify it is the software that's not initiating the reverse direction. Seems to be a great idea to speed up sheet goods processing vs. two separate tool paths, just can't get it to work.
Any hints of what I'm missing?

You on VCP8.024 Jeff?
Seems one of the earlier versions didn''t work, but used it last week and worked fine:(
Mine was a spiral ramp profile cut with .01" allowance though.

Scott- I was on earlier version. Updated yesterday, re-booted and tried again without success. Have an email in to support at Vectric, so hopefully they can clue me in- I'm betting it's another setting I've selected that's in conflict. Will follow up when I find solution.

Jeff,
Just did one for 1.4" material and it worked as expected? :(
Forgot to include tabs though, and no leads, so maybe that affects it.

Scott,
Can you actually see the last pass going the opposite direction as you preview in slower motion?

Yes, with the show tool option at slightly above slowest setting....Counter clockwise, and then clockwise in that one.

Jeff,
Mucking with it TRYING to make it mess up, but it's still doing what I tell it to and reversing direction.

I believe that there was an issue with this and also a fix/update. Depending on when you got your version, go to Help/Check for updates to see if there's a update for your version. Latest VCP version is 8.024 built Oct 19 2015.
I updated to latest version yesterday, so it's very fresh.
It occurred to me that I had no value in offset area in that box - still, it reads as though a reverse should happen without an offset. I deliberately have never done so, as a climb cut tends to run a thousandth or so over, and the final conventional pass shaves that hairline off for a crisper edge without the need for offsets.
Idea: What the heck, enter a value and see what happens (arbitrarily selected .003" to stay within kerf to bit diameter allowance)
Result: VOILA! it is reversing now.
As I thought, must be something I was missing- it's the little things...
Scott: out of curiosity, did you enter an offset value in that box or did yours work without?
Thanks for the help guys!

Congrats.
No allowance offset in the "Machine vectors", only in the last pass allowance(A) box.
