Why not upgrade and try it you can always go back to 3.6? There are some big advantages to the newer software.

after all of the headaches that i have read on here regarding 3.8 and i have no desire to update. Hardwood is very expensive and i dont want to waste anything. 3.6 is working just fine. But that said the new update might be what i want but i will hold off for a while.

I've been running 3.6 with SBLink and have had no problems. My history with upgrading SB control software has not been pleasant. I feel like I'm a beta tester for what should be production ready control software. I can't afford to have my CNC down while I "troubleshoot" problems with the software.

Since my main use of the CNC is cutting cabinet parts with SBLink, I'm not going to take a chance that there are problems running the Link on 3.8. Besides, Thermwood hasn't updated SBLink in so many years I think there are going to be compatibility problems between it and 3.8. I'll stick with 3.6. Don't fix it if it ain't broke....

There might some really nice features that people like to "play" with, but for those who use their machines to make a living they can't afford down time while problems try to get resolved.

Not sure if this is a Shopbot or Aspire problem but the new software 3.8.42 runs files that I made on one computer but gives me an error if I make a file on2 of my computers in my shop. All my old files run really good. I have upgraded my Aspire on the 1 computer in the shop but not the other. I get an error then I get file can not be found

Have you tried to narrow it down as to what OS the computers are using, what version of Aspire on each computer, what post processor is used? Each item could help you diagnose the issue. If one computer can create a .sbp file and it runs then there must be a difference in the other computes.

I think I narrowed it to Aspire as if I use Aspire 8.024 both computers can make the file work but when I try 8.502 Aspire the file fails to load

You might want to be sure to copy your post processors from the c:\program data\vectric\Aspire 8.0\My_PostP to C:\ProgramData\Vectric\Aspire\V8.5\My_PostP especially if you had any customizations.
