Im finishing up another cabinet job this week - and having made all my doors (in paint grade, maple frames with a 3/8" MDF core maple faced panel) I remembered that 4 of the uppers were supposed to be wood frame with a glass panel.

No problems I tell myself.. head to the CNC router. I place one of my old (thin) spoil boards on the plenum and use a 1/2" bit to pocket a 3/16" deep cavity the size of the door + 1/32" in both dimensions.

Then, with a 1/4" end mill I both cut out the panel, and also a secondary channel to hold the glass strip.

I usually make this piece, which gets pinned into the frame to hold the glass, from 4 pieces of solid wood. However, since this is going to have a solid lacquer finish I thought I'd try somethign different.

I just put some maple faced MDF (in 1/4") on the table and cut out 4 rings.

Today I started priming and lacquering (with a post cat off white lacquer). Will look nice and clean.

And easy to do! The vacuum table is a wonderful thing.

Nice save! I too am thrilled at the number of ways the cnc can simplify a solution, once you've masted the complexities of digital fabrication.
As time goes on, the word "Buddy" on the side of your machine quite literally becomes the truth!

Yes I keep telling my guys it's my best employee (in jest... they are invaluable to my business too) :)

Here is the door frame after spraying earlier today. Its hot here (80's) and by late afternoon I was able to put the glass in and hinges on. Just have to get some white wax in the pin holes.
