10 minutes of having the machine on and the y axis wont. i try to move it manually with the controller and the numbers move but no movement of the gantry i am thinking maybe a dead spot in the stepper? i read somewhere that they should be adjusted to reduce resonance, is this my issue? the machine is about 5 years old thanks

Barnaby if its a Buddy you could have the little drive lever on the RHS pulled out disengaging tge pinion.

All wiring seems to be tight. It runs just fine Everytime for about ten minutes. Then the y goes dead!

First of all, let us know for sure what kind of machine/control box and someone may be able to make better suggestions - is it a desktop?
Try a fan on control box and computer. Depending on type of control board, can you reseat components? What is ambient Temp in shop?
Have you called shopbot?

thank you i do have a desktop. temp in the shop is 26-28 c lately, i will try a fan on the machine but the control box is all encased behind the plexiglass, i guess calling shopbot is my next move if a fan doesnt work.

So yesterday it was much cooler here I tried running the desktop and still have the the same issue. After watching the Pitts video it sounds like the same issue I'm having. I guess the next step for me is to switch the x and y axis and run a test. My question is are the wires for the control board in the same order from right to left or I could switch o e at a time from left to right?

Have you checked in the control box to see if there is a build up of dust. also open the box and have the fan blow across the drivers.

After closer examination the control board had some burnt spots likely caused when the machine was moved. thanks to shopbot tech support im back up and running with a replacement board!
