Runtime error13 DXF conversion

Until today, no problem.
CAD files created or saved today make the error code pop up. I've tried re-saving in all the other dxf versions, same problem (using AutoCAD 2005).
CAD files created or saved before today will still convert. A BLANK file with one circle drawn in it, saved, will not work. Hmmmm.

type mismatch. I thought it might be a character in a file name, but saving that one circle with the filename cat does not work. Never had a problem before.

Nope, nothing created today on either PC will do anything but error. Going to try to drag and drop it somehow as noted in other old posts.

Saving the new file in a different folder cures it.
the folder was copied from a usb drive. Once I saved to a new folder on the desktop, it works. go figure, Ghost in the machine.
