If anyone is like me, and somewhat scared to try new things in the software.. let me show you something quick...

Two examples of carved chair seats (not yet cut out) in poplar for some paint grade chairs... One raw after modeling, one with some basic smoothing along the center seam.

Try it is you have not yet. The modeling tools are amazing!

the older i get the more that second design fits me.

I use the smoothing tool all the times, mostly with raised 3-d lettering
