Hi all.

I have an HSD spindle, 6 months old and the weirdest thing happened today...

(Let me apologize for any incorrect spelling and mislabeling in advance.)

If you look at the attached pictures you will see that part of the spindle, i call it the "outer screw", has unscrewed itself during cutting.2896028959

It looks like there's supposed to be a special tool to tighten or loosen these rings, and I dont think those were a part of the package when my PRS Alpha was delivered... This leads me to believe that I'm not supposed to mess with these.

Any thougths on why this has happened, if this means that the bearings have been compromised and what I can do to stop this from happening again.?

Thanks in advance,

Peter

I had this happen soon after I got my machine. you need a spanner wrench to tighten it. I got an adjustable one and had to grind the pins down to fit. I think I used locktite on mine and it was never a issue again.
this may work well the first one is what I sued after I ground the pins smaller. I finally throw it away a few months ago after 9 years of not needing it. When I called shopbot at the time the had rep was there and said it should not come unscrewed because it is backwards threaded.
