I believe you can buy a kit to modify a 6" Z to a 12" Z and that Shopbot will warn you that it will not be quite as accurate... so if you can find a machine that is relatively suitable... maybe Frank can have you a rough order of magnitude on converting it??? ( I could be totally off the wall here- but I don't think I am too far off...)

I know this is a somewhat old post but if you are still looking I am about to put up for sale a 5 x 10 PRS Alpha- 2011 model. It has the standard Z clearance though. My unit has two 4 hp HSD spindles and an air drill. Have not listed it anywhere yet.
Let me know if you are interested and I will send pics. The machine is 100% clean, we are looking to upgrade to a higher production machine for our shop.

Do you still have a 5x10 PRT? I have been cutting 4x8 material and my customer now has the need for a few 5x10 and I'm thinking I don't want him looking for another CNC.
