Hello, I am looking to purchase a new desktop, but was wondering what the actual cutting envelope is. Can I cut a measured 24" x 18" blank with a 1/4" tool comped to the outside?

Welcome:)
Yes you can. Actually it's the second factory file you'll be doing(trimming your spoilboard to exactly 24X18").
Can't quite do a .5" bit because of the Y,18 hard stop.

No problem. When I was going to buy, a member actually took his aluminum extrusions off to take a measurement for me:)
This was easy.
I added a limit switch to Y,18 end. And it's within a hair of hitting the hard stop. I just went into shop and ran it back to the Y-limit, and it stopped at 18.148"
You could move the spoilboard forward and change your set-up to 0,0 at different than -.5,-.5" and that would gain you a little bit,
but I'm at the default settings because I work basically from the 0,0 corner.

Okay that is good to know...I am only use to a certain type of machine and trying to get my assumptions out of the way before I get one on order.
