I recently wrapped up a pretty unique project. The project consisted of a set of bookcases 10' tall in an entrance area. On top of those bookcases was another set of bookcases just under 10' tall. The two sets were separated by a floor of an inch and half thick acrylic. A set of RGB LED lights were installed around the perimeter of the acrylic.

There was an open area on the wall just above the front door and, as my clients are passionate about books, I suggested they give me a quotation. I v-carved the quote and added some carved "fleur de lis". The quote completed the project and tied everything together.

There are more pictures of the project on my FaceBook page at the following link:

The bookcases were designed in eCabinets and cut on the ShopBot via the ShopBot Link.

I am duly impressed, what a show of true craftsmanship. Question, or two, I am 6'3" and would be hard pressed to reach anything that tall. How are the books accessed on the top shelves? And tell the truth how scary was it the first time you stepped out on to that clear floor! :D Russ

Thanks, Russ! The top shelves will be reached with a small portable step stool. They won't need to be accessed very often. My client has arranged the books so that those on the top shelf will not be needed very often.

In a previous life I worked as a full-time skydiver and have over 7500 skydives, so I'm familiar with heights. Regardless, stepping onto that clear floor for the first time was still a leap of faith!
