How can I change the spindle speed using the VFD? I have attached a photo of the one that came with my purchase in 2011, the manual that came with it is for a V7-4X by Yaskawa, I have never really had a need to alter the spindle RPM as I only cut HDU for signage.29653

Let me also say, I try to change the speed in Partworks or Aspire when I am creating the piece but, apparently the control panel / VFD is not changing the speed...cannot do a manual speed change in SB3 either so I am a bit stumped. Normally I would try changing a settings in the VFD but I have too many obligations at present to try that.
Thanks for looking!

v-1000 Manual.
Frequency is changed through the front panel. I believe spindle rpm control via the cut file requires an additional controller.

Do you have the USB spindle control from SB hooked up and the drivers installed? Looks like this (http://www.shopbottools.com/ShopBotDocs/files/RPM%20control%20install%20Yaskawa%20VFD%202011%200 7%2012.pdf).

Thanks to both of you Scott's!
It did come with an adapter where the data cable was attached with the RJ connection and the control box with a USB, then it connected to computer via USB. I kept having com problems when running signs and found that I could attach cables independently to the the computer and eliminated those problems...just never knew that I lost the ability to use the rpm control. Oh and I never got the attached info for the V-1000, so Thanks for that!!
Now the question is do you know where I can find another adapter because I cannot find the one I had? Also the brownish cable on the front of the manual appears that the cable is one cable vs two separate wires..is that correct?
Thanks!

I am not sure that you can easily control the spindle speed from your VFD in the SB software. The lack of documentation with the Chinese VFDs is a definite downside. I use a Chinese spindle with an Hitachi VFD not controlled by the software. Manually changing the speed is not that big of a deal. If you have questions about the VFD, cnczone.com might be a good resource. It seems a lot of folks on that forum use those VFDs and some of them are whizzes. SB tech support should be able to give you a quick answer on software control.
