Wanted: desktop with spindle

Roy, If it doesn't have the 5.5" Z conversion kit, make sure to double check the price/availability with Shopbot. 4" Z was fine, but 5.5" allows a lot more projects.
Maybe check Version of VCP as well, as 8 was a MAJOR upgrade with 8.5 and the 3D abilities.

Much appreciate the advice! And...I will definitely now be aware of the fine points. I have a PRT that I have had for MANY years that we use for most projects but I am looking at trying to cut some small aluminum molds. The PRT can do it but don't want to tie up that machine for the 2.5d stuff.

You'll like the Desktop.....working on a round(bark is tight) now that was impossible to keep flat, and VCarving a cardinal (bird) in the center, and cheating Z down by .001" at a time to get the tailfeathers, without making the eyeball disappear with a 60 engraving, and it's cutting Exactly what I'm telling it:)
TIGHT machine in all axis. :)
