My x & y axis stopped responding. The z axis is fine. It sounds like the motors are trying to move, but nothing is happening. We have a 6 year old prt and upgraded our control board less than 1 year ago. Any ideas on what's gone wrong?

Gerry,

Don't know if this will help but check your unit values. That happened to me once and the unit values where different for some odd reason.

Check the Gears on your motors to make sure you are not spinnig on the motor shaft.
Had the same problem.

I have a similar problem with all axes. The file started cutting normally but after a few seconds it just quit. Now when I try to move any of the motors they just stutter as of trying to move but don't. Units are good and gears are good.

We recently had similar problem on our PRT with the 4G upgrade. Last week I think we had some electrical spike in the shop and lost all of our unit values etc. We tried to re-enter them and no luck. I than upgraded the control software to 3.5.5 (we were running 3.4.?). after the change in software we couldn’t get the Shopbot to jog properly or zzero correctly. I spoke with Frank at Shopbot and he informed me that the newer versions of the software call for the parameters of the actual version of the machine and control box you have, i.e. PRT 48 x 96 4G. I know in the prior versions, we had to use the parameters for the Alpha. Well after making the change the machine would now move fine but we couldn’t get it to zero properly. I read the ‘readme’ files and it appears that versions 3.5.5 and 3.5.4 had some changes to the zzero routine so instead I loaded version 3.5.3 and everything seemed to work just fine. I need to ad that I initially had one of my employees load up 3.5.5 as well as 3.5.4 and I later discovered that they did not remove the previously installed versions correctly. As a result, I can not definitively say that we had a problem with software(3.5.5 & 3.5.4) or the install. I wish you good luck with your problem.

Anyhow, I never had a chance to thank Frank and the great Shobot support network. A big thanks guys….
