I've got no idea why the forum decides to trap posts occasionally and require they be validated, but I just went in and approved the ones that were somewhat recent. Hopefully it won't cause too much confusion as old posts pop up.

Bill,

Can you check on a post I've been trying to make in the virtual show and tell forum? I tried it three times, no post ever appeared. After the first two attempts, I tried writing to the admins of the whole forum asking what was up, but got no reply. I tried the same post in the "practice posting" forum area and it worked. That's when I tried one last time in show and tell. Nothing. This has all been in the last month. Can you help me out?

This is mostly above my paygrade, but see if any/all show up?

I've checked, and no, they have not posted.

Okay - using this platform, as I received a first time ever message that the moderators had to approve first, then it would be posted. I see others have successfully posted reply much later than mine, yet it's not showing up. Wonder if this one will....

Just had it happen for the first time as well. Had a rather lengthy post and a link to a Google Drive photo and now it's in limbo.

Makes you wonder, how many people don't even post about it and get so annoyed they don't post for awhile:(
Shopbot needs to give their IT guy a swift kick....just to get his attention:)
(NOT you Bill!!!) :)

Hope someone in charge is listening -
I'm about to stop replying.
It is a great courtesy for any participant to take time to respond to a thread, in hopes of helping others, as they have been helped by this vital forum.
Is it too much to ask for an explanation as to the problem?
Too many snipe posts that had to be removed, so now random spot checks?
Please, somebody clarify this situation. It is not going away, but I fear many valued participants are.....

JUST got off the phone with Shopbot.....they use a spam service(hope I got that right), and it's not even notifying them that there's a post for the moderator to LOOK at:(
VERY helpful person is looking into it as I type...he wasn't even aware of the problem and nobody had called him:(
Hopefully something will happen now:)

Scott, I have released a bunch of posts and threads I saw in the admin and hopefully that alleviates some of the pain here. I apologize that this has caused grief here among the people who support us out in the world with good advice and timely info. My next step is to see if we are getting the notifications that a post is ready to moderate.
Thanks again for your help and notifying us of an issue!

UPDATE:

We still have no idea why some posts are trapped by the forum spam trap, but may have figured out a way to bypass the scanning of posts after a member has a certain number of posts. We're somewhat confident that it will fix the problem, but there's also a chance that things will go horribly wrong and we'll have to revert. Only time will tell.

Thank you for the update and your work towards a remedy. As long as we know someone is doing their best, I think we can afford some patience.
Thanks again, and best of luck!
