I got an email from Woodpeckers with this system the first thing I thought was it might work good on a desk top size machine. I have no connection with this company.

That plastic is not going to last very long. It is probably also pretty expensive for what it is.
Aluminum T Track is the only way to go! Andrew Coholic converted a Buddy to a t track table and I followed his instructions a couple of years ago. It is on ONLY way to go if you are not in production and need a large vacuum hold down.

I don't own a desk top I have a large machine that has both a vacuum area and an aluminum extrusion clamping area. It looked like a nice easy solution for clamping hard to hold parts I am not sure how rigid it is. I have made plastic fixtures and depending on what you are doing they hold fine edge drilling comes to mind or doing some other joinery that is hard to hold a part. I can't say for sure this would work great but it might depending on what you are doing.
