One of our model buildings literally fell apart so here is a work in progress replacement.

That's a gallon can of paint in the lower right for size comparison.

1/8th ball nose for scribing, 1/4 end mil openings and cutout, 1/16th tapered ball nose for sintra stuff. 1/2 in ply with some 1/4 in trim, a 6 mm sintra for some details. Lots more to do but just a work in progress. Russ

Thanks Scott. These models and the smaller ones I do are why I have a shop. I've done some 3d printing and some laser stuff recently but I just my Bot! Russ

Love all of it!! Keep meaning to ask you what kind of investment to get a train started on say 3 acres?

Love to see your pics of the train too.

Thanks
Tim

Russ,

Have you changed any of the materials? Looks as if once you have all the parts cut out, it's just the process of sticking it back together. I like the details you have included.

Are most of the engines steam or electric?

Tim, the hobby is pretty evenly divided. 1/3 steam, 1/3 gasoline, and 1/3 battery / electric. Of the steamers about 75% propane, 15% coal, and 10% oil burners. The majority of the coal burners are east coasters with propane being wide spread in wildfire west. The battery folks are the fastest growing part of the hobby based primarily on wheelchair technology. Low cost heavy duty motors, controllers and deep cycle batteries. Our biggest issue regarding the park is providing charging areas for them. Our International event next year is expected to draw some 450 trains with 150 being battery. We currently can charge about 90 or so. We have some work to do this winter. Russ
