Has anyone tried custom bracing the standard PRT-96 table,
to make it more like the latest, braced models?

I'm thinking of bracing it via boring holes in the steel legs,
with a view to using WOOD (2 x 4?)braces, rather than metal/steel,
(certainly not welding, coz that might cause contraction after the welds cool?)

This 'Custom Bracing' should not be too terribly difficult.
Selecting the right sizes and type of wood are the factors to be considered, I should think
Maybe wood is entirely the wrong way to go,
thus any suggestions/experiences would be helpful..
How about bolting METAL braces, rather than wooden braces?

Metal is always a better choice for this type of thing. A few lengths of 3/16 or 1/4" X 2" angle iron will do the trick. Just bolt them on like you would bridging...or just buy the braces directly from Shopbot.
