Jim McGrew’s 2018 Aspire Camp Update
We’re pleased to announce the New Additions to the already exciting scheduled presentations.
Randall Newcomb, the “Godfather of the Rotary” has agreed to host a special session on the use of the rotary tool.
Randall’s session will take place on Friday at 8:30AM,,,something not to be missed.
He will be joined by Brady Watson and Gary Campbell to present and answer your questions on the possibilities of this exciting CNC attachment.
Discussions will include using the rotary “Wrapping” gadget within the Vectric software as well as some optional approaches to producing high end quality work with the 4th axis tooling.
Brady Watson has also “volunteered” to host a session ( Thursday 2PM ) on the fundamental use of 3-D scanning for your CNC work. World renowned for the quality of his 3-D scanning, Brady will engage the attendees to think outside the norms when it comes to looking at all the possibilities in the world of CNC work.
A few other items of note……Lunch will be served each day, so your time for networking with some of the “Best of the Best” can be maximized.
Several CNC Machine OEM’s and Tool vendors will also be giving informative presentations about their products. This select group of suppliers will be on hand throughout the Camp for some one on one discussions.
If you decide to make an investment in your CNC future….
This is certainly THE event worth attending!
The complete schedule can be downloaded here along with your registration form.

See you there..

Michael

Wondering if any of the sessions will be live streamed or available on youtube. Am very interested in the indexer sessions and due to other commitments cannot attend in person. I would also be open to a charge for these videos

To quote Frederic from Gilbert & Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, ‘ i would if i could, but i am not able.’ Still hoping that some how some videos of the session become available as discussions on indexer is very interesting to me.

He is Risen! Happy Easter to all

Got back last night from the Aspire Camp. It was a pretty good event, well organized with a nice mix of speakers.

I was most interested in the indexer discussions. There was a lot of information and inspiration there. I ran out to HD last night and bought a couple of 4x4's to practice on.

The only critique I would make on the show would be for the show-and-tell part. Giving away a cash prize is kind of empty. Personally, I would rather get a nice plaque that I could put on my shelf than some cash I would blow in 10 minutes. Once it's gone, that's it. Nothing to show for it. A plaque would last forever and be a source of pride and discussion each time someone looked at it.

Other than that, nothing but good stuff. Good food, good venue, good speakers and a well oiled machine. Thanks!

As someone who made a living doing arts festivals for over 25 years, I would say plenty of cash AND a plaque would be the best option. :)

Thanks for the suggestion of the plaque,,,
Maybe we should have a contest for the design of the plaque as well ????

Thanks for attending.

I'm totally out of the loop when it come to Aspire Camps. Is there more than one location? If so which one would be closest to the Chicagoland area? I ask because I'll be joining the ranks of the re-tired this winter and it may be fun to see what ShopBotting is like outside my very small circle of 1.
So, I'd be interested in 2019 locations, if that info. is available this early.

Vectric has a user group in Chicago in October,, look on their website for details. The camp I hold is in my Commercial woodshop and was started in 2009 as a thank you for the help i received from Vectric and the great machine forums, CNC changed our operation and We grew during the recession, I am still as grateful now as i was then !

Thanks Cabinet 636. That sounds doable. Not for this year, but I'll watch for it next year. Do you hold it on or near the same date every year?
