Whoops Misspelled POPLAR slab

Another shop dropped this off to be surfaced it had a finish but the finisher had sanded too much making obvious depressions in the top.

Surfaced it on the bot with a 11/2 bit. I taper ground the outer edges of the bit, it really cuts down on stepover lines the grind is very small a 64th or so over a half inch of the cutter.

The finish was satin varithane water base floor finish applied with a HVLP gun. Wet sanded with 1200 and compound buffed.

I am not making the base just had to surface and finish it.

Beautiful piece! I'm sure that the camera doesn't do it justice for color. How wide?

The widest part is 42 inches a little over seven feet long.

It does really have some character for a wood most consider garbage.

What a great piece. I love poplar if its not too sterile looking. I like movement, figure and character and this one has it.
