I have an early PRS standard that started life as a 4x8' and was converted to a 4x4' by purchasing new Extrusions and rails from SB [I have the 8' extrusions and rails and legs, etc. as well].
I bought it and have had it in the 4x4 form for 4-5 years and added a water cooled Chicom 2.2KW spindle which works to my satisfaction. The small pump and radiator is attached to the Z carriage
so there are no hoses away from the machine. It has energy link chains for the X & Y axis- the Y axis is standard SB and I added the X chain which runs on top of the gantry. I made a
dust pickup that passes under the gantry and exhausts to the top. The lower part is attached magnetically, and have the files of course. I attached a wooden drawer under the front for
tools and bits that works well and a welded steel computer mount that attaches to the end of the extrusion and swings out of the way. I will throw in the laptop with software loaded.
I replaced the motor gears when I bought it and it has a bit of use on it in my care- not sure about the previous owner, but I believe it to be in good condition. I owned a sign shop and used it mostly for HDU foam carvings.
I have acquired a Chicom laser which handles most of what the SB was used for and just made deal on a BT48 which will fit my floorplan better and open up room for... more tools.
I am not sure of the model of the control box, but it is an earlier unit with the plastic case. I will take some pictures this weekend after I clear off the spoil board and dust it a bit.
I shipped it from the east coast complete- just immobilizing the gantry and the Z carriage with no problems- I would take off the Z if I had to but really don't want to do much more. I have a forklift so a liftgate would not be necessary on this end. I am in Blaine, Mn, a burb of Mpls. I am thinking it is worth $6500 and welcome questions and can add more pix as I dig it out a bit more. Thanks Gene
