It may be a little extra effort to use pine, but the profit margin is there considering how cheap these panels are from big-box stores. 24x16 inches. Pine board from Menards. Black surface, recessed field, textured with 1/4 ballnose end mill. Polycrylic finish.

Simon...carving texture looks great. I'm going to check out your you-tube. I could use the technique on my relief carved letters on the blanket chests I build.

Thank you, Eric. For the most part, yes. I use Aspire. I'll dabble in Illustrator sometimes for some special design tools I wouldn't know how to mimic in Aspire though.
