Does the dust shoe release easily from the base? The rare earth magnets are very strong, I'm just wondering if this is an issue.

Thanks,

Phil

You can get a bit of a pinch if you get your fingers between the magnets and the base but after a couple of "lessons", that stops happening. Getting the base apart is quite easy though. There's a slot cut into the base that makes it easy to get them apart. I've been using a Kent shoe for years and am satisfied. Far better than the OEM part.

I used one for a number of years and loved it. I did design a slightly "better" unit when one of my people cracked the Kent. I like it a lot and it uses pretty close to the same set up.... They are much better than the originals and most of what is on the market.... go for it. It is a good dust shoe!

SB HQ has one that works nicely. Been using it for a while now. Can't find it on the site, so maybe give them a call.

I am making my own. My 10 year old benchtop Shopbot has an unusual configuration that won't work with the Kent shoe. It is almost complete. I bought the Neodymium magnets fro a hardware store. They are not strong enough. I used 4 magnets. Maybe more magnets will do the job. I learned that there are a number of grades of magnets. What type and grade is used on the Kent dust shoes?

I've used "rare earth" magnets on some of the dust shoes I've built. I'm sure that's what on the Kent shoes as well. Look 'em up, you can get them on Amazon and they're really strong.
