Tool Cabinets

A few years ago I milled a big red oak. This winter I decided to make some tool cabinets with it.

The bot did the dadoes on the uprights and mortise and tenon. And the drawer dovetails.

Originally the plan was to have 4 on casters I then decided to stack them to save floor space that has thrown the drawer size sequence off, good thing I am not OCD. I have to put the big drawer together and install that on will get dual slides.

It will be nice to consolidate my tools only been ten years since I built the new shop.

Thanks Guys, all the wood that went into them is local besides the plywood drawer bottoms and that is from my local lumberyard still hanging on despite home depot. The hemlock and cherry I used for the drawers came from a sawmill down the road, Bob is 85 with a big woodmizer mill, his son is starting to help him out.

Most of my live edge furniture I sell I can tell the customer where the piece of wood came from nice to have a story to go with it.

Hi Bob, I used a 6mm O flute upcut on climb cut, A few had some minor chipout.

I love using 'known' lumber. I am just finishing up on a couple of outdoor benches. Years ago we had an area that had a very poorly engineered deck. We tore it down and then just 'stashed' the 'scrap' lumber under a tree. It was there for several years. So I gathered up some of it and salvaged a few pieces. Ran them through the planer and here is what I ended up with. I haven't tried anything as cool as that piece you made though! Very nicely done! Russ

Thanks Russ, Years ago before I had cnc I made the kitchen cabinets in our cabin out of some hemlock trees we had to take down.

Our dining table is made out of a tulip poplar that was getting too big I was going to mill it for utility shelves for the shop until I saw the spalting it had gotten while the logs sat.
