Scott, you can always use the other end, it will have a dock and a ramp! ;) Besides it's old west stuff - no OSHA! Russ

Those are really nice, my great nephew is into Thomas the train I made him a station that his wooden tracks connect to, not anywhere as nice as yours.

Hey Russ. I really like that design. That would make a spectacular shop, though maybe a tiny bit bigger! If I ever build another shop I'm going to hire you as my architect!

Take care my friend

Totally unrelated to ShopBot but same customer. The wife had this old garden planter that was falling apart and she was going to toss it. So I looked at it and immediately thought train, (I know big surprise). So did a rebuild and ended up with a neat little water tower for the tracks. Russ

Really liking the realistic roof Russ....what material and how did you make it?
Kinda expected John Wayne double swinging Saloon doors for dramatic entrances(and Exits:)
BUT then remembered your snow...and models probably have to be buttoned up pretty well.
Looking forward to church also:)

Thanks Scott. In our hobby most enthusiasts are machinist hobbyist not wood workers. So one of our members made a machine that has opposing rollers machined to those ripples. Think old time washing machine rollers. The material is off the shelf aluminum flashing. I cut the size I want plus 15% for width and feed them into the machine. For this particular model I didn't want the shiny look, so it's been rattle canned. Iv'e used this method before. Russ

Russ, great job bro. I love that someone made a tin roller. And interesting factoid about the %15 reduction. Looking forward to the church.

"factoid about the %15 reduction" yeah it was an eye opener on the grain elevator. I figured the square feet required and wrinkled up a box of pieces and went to work, I was way short! ;) Russ

Nice Russ:)
Kinda like the fact that the Sintra(?) looks old and used(?)
Never used the stuff before, but wondering if it was used or tearout?
Kinda looks like Cherry trim on MBR door after wheelchair and stuff has hit it over 22yrs:) (IF I had painted instead of oiled).

Bottles in Saloon looked kinda empty:)

Scott, the distressed look is tear-out from the cheap plywood. Since the intent was a period look it was not a concern. On other models it would bother me a lot but on these not so much, The sintra is great stuff and cuts very clean and glues up with pvc cement. On the buildings it is most of the trim pieces like the arched window frames. I use sintra a lot for making my smaller models. Russ

Thanks Russ,
Yep...reminded me of my first old NH church....when population went up around 1800...they lifted it Way up...put granite foundation in, and then decided to lift it up some more to add a bottom floor:)
Think the boards came from ALL over...and then of course painted the paint for 200 yrs:)
The Church in this town predated the country by 10 yrs.....built by shipbuilders though...interesting joinery:)

Period building is Good!

Figured you got paid in trade for the saloon judging by doorknobs on church:)

Thanks!
scott
