no z axis

hi there
i went to use my prs alpha today and i have x and y working but no z. the software shows movement but the cnc isnt moving.
i can move it by lifting it so the motor isnt working or isnt getting power.


any ideas

anyone any ideas.
i did a bit more testing and my no contact detecter isnt showing any power to the motor so i opened the computer box .
i have green lights on the top 3 parts on the board but a red light on the bottom one.

Sounds like a bad driver (red gecko) in the box, but here is a test you can do. With everything powered OFF.... on the back of the control box, switch the z and y plugs. Power it back up and the y button should work the z and the z button should work the y. See if the z functions this way and it will tell you if the issue is with wiring and or motor, or if the issue is in the control box. power down and put it back the way it was after the test, but it should narrow down the problem.
