11 hour job?

Hello,
On a Shopbot desktop...
redwood 11.5"x11.5".1.5
carving a 3d design..
- rough cut finished
- final cut - 1/8" ball is estimated by Vcarve to take 11+hours.

I am hesitant to leave the machine unwatched for a long time..

is it okay to pause the job and resume later?
other suggestions to speed up the cutting?
Thoughts on leaving the machine unwatched?
