Communication error 242

its 9:00 pm and i just received a communication error 242 comm break at ser-0,0
i used the machine several hours last night and tonight, it gives me this error on start up. has anyone had this problem before.

Reboot your machine nd ensure your serial cable is securely connected from your control box to your PC. Make sure you power off your control box before you check your serial cable.
also ensure you are connecting with the proper com port of your tool,
