View Full Version : Prox / limit switch problem

I have a prt 48 x 96
I removed the blue terminal block to have a drive repaired on the control board.
Installed repaired control board.
Installed Firmware.
Moved carriage around with arrow keys.
Attempted to move carriage using Move command (m2 3,3)
Error message >> Limit Switch Error <<
Made sure the input #3 and #4 are the default.
get the same error
when I select input switch #3 as standard switch I can move with move commands.

It doesn't matter if the terminal block is hooked to the board.
When terminal blocks is hooked to the board.
And manually move the prox sensor over bolt head,
Prox switch lights up, but travel continues.

2 red wires on +5
2 black wires on input #3
2 green wires on G (i think their green wires - colorblind )

Estop isn't hooked up at this point

Any Ideas?

Is switch mode of input 3 set to Normally Open?
PRT uses NO circuit

When Input Switch #3 Mode is set to 1-as Limit Switch and I use the Move command>> M2, 2,2
The Control Console gives me a Error Limit Switch.
It don't matter what axis I try to move, it gives me the same error.
When I change the Input Switch #3 Mode to 0-Std Switch, I can use the Move commands

What software version are you running? Are the prox switches OEM PRT? They were working before control board was repaired?

The prox switches are OEM PRT
And working prior to the repair
ShopBot Control Software Version 3.4.27PRT

Wiring is correct as per the PRT manual..
Can you check to see if the black wires actually are ground when prox is lit? Use a voltmeter between +5v and black wire when prox is lit.

Other than that, the connector would be next to check. if not there then the board is suspect.
