I am trying to use mach 3 on a used ShopBot I purchased that has an Acension 1000 controller. Does anyone know the pin assignments for the parallel port?

Thank you!

Jim,

In Mach3 under Config/Ports and Pins, the input tab shows the pins that can be used are 10-13 and 15 on port 1 (if you are using one parallel port). Outputs are 2-9, 1, 14, 16 and 17.

Here's a diagram of the parallel port pin order.

3904

On the back of the Ascension box, the Z zero plate is on port 1, pin 15 and Estop is on port 1, pin 10. Limit A can be used for whatever you want. Depending on how many drives you have, you may be able to pick up a couple of extra outputs from the B axis (internally).

I've got all the documentation from my Ascension controller. If there's something specific you need to know, let me know and I'll see if I can dig it up.

The Mach3 manuals can be found here. http://www.machsupport.com/documentation.php

Thank you Scott. My Ascension 1000 is a four axis controller (I have a dual Z ShopBot). I purchased it from the family of a gentleman who passed away recently and I don't have the XML file, so I don't know what pins to set for the four axes in Mach 3. I also don't know if they are active high or low. If you know the pin settings or have an XML file you would be a real lifesaver! Thank you!

Jim
