I have a benchtop PRT. Currently I am running ver 3.27. I've read some posts claiming there are issues with ver 3.27 and 3.29. What are the issues? I haven't had any problems with 3.27. I prefer to keep up with the most recent version but I want to know it will work properly before I start using it. Should I download ver 3.30?

From what I understand, unless you have a 4G board stay with 3.27 I don't know if the same issue with the Alpha effects the PRT or not.

The issue is something to do with step loss. On my Alpha the Z axis kept getting higher and higher during cutting. After about 10 minutes of cutting one of my files the Z was cutting 1" over the material. However, when I homed the tool returned to the correct position of 0,0,1 and was accurate. I went back to 3.27 and have stayed there without issues.

Just tried version 30 for the alpha on three machines and had to swap back to 26 because the Z wasn't cutting to the correct depth.

2 hours of production down the pan

All well again...

How do I identify "a 4G board" on/in my SB Control box??

I operate a SB PRT-96 (non-Aplha) built in mid-2006.
Did it come with a 4G board I wonder,
and how to tell??

Have just downloaded SB 3.4.27, seeking The Latest for this almost-new machine.
Maybe I shoulda downloaded the other one.. 3.4.30 for 4G

Help with board ID,please?

David,
I am quite sure that the "4G" boards were not standard issue on Shopbots in Mid-2006...Easiest way to tell, look inside your control box and see if you have 4 black units that say "Gecko"on them...
