Scaling only x or y

I want to change the scale of only one dimension ...ie make an object 20% wider and maintain the same height, cut/pasting the object gives few options, and modify doesnt seem to work... is there another way?

Change-Scale, enter the factor (X=1.2)

This only works for the selected geometry, and if you want to scale arcs, Change-Break-Interpolate them first.

This is a good way to adjust text to fit a specific sized area. It DOES munge the font a little as the aspect ratios of the characters in a font are "supposed" to have some aesthetic value. ;-)
