I've been using visual mill 4 , and find it a great program for the money . The program has the ability to customize the post processor which is mostly above my head . The biggest problem is feed rate . I the latest service release they added the ability to set the z feed as a pecentage of the xy feed , but from a couple of emails that I've recieved it looks like they forgot to tell anybody how to do it . I'm posting my fix here :---In the feed rate tab in the top line [FEEDRATE_CODE],[FEEDRATE],[ZFEEDRATE] ----I set high value to 3 , low value to .393 ----scale factor to 1 ---# of decimal places to 3 . ---Next is the fun part -----I set the Z feed rate Scale factor to 0.5 .----But visual mill wont let you type this in . you have to open something up like wordpad , type in the 0.5 , right click and cut , then right click in the window and paste it .---- I saved the post as shopbot 1 . ---I asked mecsoft for a post processor that would output the moves as JX , MY , etc . like vector does , and even sent them a sample cutting file created with vector but they didn't seem to address the issue .---- One other thing I did was in the machining preferences dialogue , I cleared the " output arcs as linear segments" box , this stopped circles from being cut as polygons . Has anybody else modified the visual mill post processor so that it would output the moves as JX , MX , etc .?? ---If so I'd love to hear how to do it ?

Mike the reason they don't out put jx,my type is because this is mostly shopbot priority and they would have to write a driver for the shopbot software style of comands this would be between shopbot and mecsoft to do this. that is why the egnored you David in Wyoming

I am also interested in using shopbot with visual mill.
Shopbot is not included in post processing, but
someone has to know how to transfer to G code.
After that maybe exist some solution.
Some advice will be helpful.
Thanks

There are post processors for both version 3 and version 4 on the ShopBot web site... look near the middle of the page ( in the drivers section) on

http://www.shopbottools.com/download.htm
