Keeping a relief while doing an area clear

I'm doing a sign with raised letters that has a relief of a branch incorperated in the lettering.
I'd like to do it as a single piece of wood.
As soon as I do an area clearance to get the raised letters the relief gets milled away.If I treat the whole sign as a relief the raised letters lose a lot of there definition.
Can this be easily done or would creating the letters seperatly simplify the whole thing.

A picture's worth a thousand words...Post up a screenshot of your vectors showing the letters and the branch. ArtCAM's previewer is very good and what you see is what you get. So, if it shows that it is going to clear out the relief from the letters then you know it'll do it on the machine as well.
