John, This may be a stupid question, but have you checked to make sure your bit isn't walking out of the collet?

Ryan,
Not that stupid of a question. I just had that happen to me two weeks ago. At first I did not think it was the bit, because it did not move easily. But when holding a block of wood against it and putting a little more pressure I could push it up into the collet.

Ryan I thought of that but when i check, with machine stopped of course, the bit is in good. What method do u use to check this anyhow?

John, I have had my bit slip in a tight collet. I have had a lot of trouble with bits breaking and slipping with my milwaukee router. I rarely had this trouble with my original PC router.

John, my suggestion to test that would be one of two things. Either try a different bit and make a cut and see if the height changes or set up a dial indicator off the table at a point to something not bit related (maybe take the bit right out and go off the collet), run the router around for a while and then check the height again. If it moved it is the Z, if not I would say it is probably your bit slipping.
