I can draw an ellipse on autocad Lt 98 and export it on a disk and convert it in shopbot, all streight lines will show up, but the ellipse will not. How can I correct it?

Roy, in some other Cad programs you have to "explode"curved lines before converting them. I'm not sure how Autocad handles this however..Bill P.

Roy, I use DesignCad 3000 and the following process for cutting an ellipse. First I draw my ellipse in DesignCad then select the enity and then select vector convert I then export the ellipse as a dxf file. Then open the dxf file in Vector do a shift select on the ellipse, select draw then splines then arc spline. At this point you should have an ellipse that is a combination of arc's and short lines. From this point you can do your cutter offset and generate the shopbot code.

How do i make a rectangle ( in vector 8)with rounded off edges the edges arc measuring @ 1.5? I am having trouble doing this. the measurments of the rectangle are 4 x 1.375 and the arcs on the side are 1.5. please tell me!
thank u george

George, I hope you only want 1.5" filets only on two sides. You've probably figured out that you can't stick a 1.5" stick in a 1.375" hole. :-) Maybe acustomer was playing a trick on ya'.

Anyway I've attached a Vector file with radius' to your specs with the radius only on two sides. Maybe you can modify it to your idea.

Also George, Here is a file with these shapes. The both use 1.5" radii on the corners. The top one actually has a .75" radius on each side filleted together with a .375" radius.

4377

The bottom one is two 1.5" radii joined together without filleting them toghether and stretched out to match the 4" length requirement.

The second fillet file

4376 (3 k)

Good Luck!
