I have designed some files with artcam pro 8 and I would like to toolpath with part wizard, is this possible? I used a friends computer and designed these files and was going to toolpath them at work the next day but when I went to the file I made with artcam (.art file) and tried to open it with part wizard it said "invalid data/file version. check which version of artcam created the data". Is it not possible to use art cam pro 8 with the part wizard program. It would seem an .art file is an .art file No matter the version but apparently not. How can I use part wizard with these files. I have limited access to the artcam 8 program as I do not personally own it and don't know how to toolpath with it. I hate to think all the time I spent creating the vectors in artcam is unusable in part wizard.

justin,
export the files made in artcam as dxf or eps
and you can import them in PW
(i had the same problem, artcam pro( 7)dont open correctly in pW)

I tried that and it doesn't give an option to export. I tried to import from shopbot but there are not any compatible file extensions? any other ideas. maybe a patch or something? what to do, what to do?

In Artcam, under the " File" menu you should have " export" as an option...PW will only read 2D parts, so if you made a relief, or anything that had depth to it, you cannot bring those files into PW.

Justin,
ArtCAM Pro only exports 'selected' vectors which often catches people out, as if there are no vectors selected the 'Export' option is greyed out. Simply select all the vectors and the 'Export' option will become available.
EPS should be a better format to use to export to PW as this will preserve any bezier curves in your drawing. If you choose DXF export (at least on versions of ArtCAM prior to Version 8) any curves will be approximated with straight lines.

Thank you all very much. I got it now. This forum is the greatest thing since the shopbot.
