They have lots of Power Supply and
literaly tons of other "geekoid paraphenalia"

I DO NOT want the Power Supply discussion to be ressurected,
so this is just for info and your evaluation only.

Speaking of Power Supplies- :-)

I ocasionally speak to people who have no computer, no skills and/or interest in computers, but want to rout lettering. I often try to gently steer them toward a pantograph system. Is anyone familiar with the pros and cons of these systems, or has a recommendation?

I've used the Sears version off and on for years; it's quick to setup but pretty limited in what you can do as far as lettering styles, etc. I use it for one-off signs that don't have to be too fancy such as documentation number plaques and nameboards for commercial boats; it cuts easily-readable letters with minimal setup.

Hey Art and Bill,

I was at the Indianapolis wood show and saw a nifty plung router option.

It was a wide vise like base with a floating clear plastic sheet on top of it.
The router goes inbetweeen the plastic and the part clamped in the vise.

The ART goes ON the clear sheet. The router has a small ball bearing plate glued on the top.
You follow the art with the ball and plunge accordingly. All hand operated , but it worked
real simply and was quite effective for
a "hand positioned " quality level of work.

If I find the flier I'll scan it and passit along
Seems like it was a reasonable purchase.

No fixed size templates either.

It had very minimal setup, you copuld even just
sketch on the clear plastic !

Much more versatile than that flimsy Sears
pantograph ( YUP I got stuck with one too :-( )
