I recentley received my shopbot and have done a few things with it. I know I need some good cad/cam software, but am confused as to what. I have no experence with this type of software. I want to do some things in 3d. I need something that is easy to learn and use.
would appreciate any suggestions

The easiest way into 3D with the Bot currently appears to be Rhino with either MillWizard (250.00) or VisualMill Basic (800.00) to compliment it....D

I agree with Darrell on the Rhino and VisualMill combo. You can make just about anything you can imagine with there two programs and the cost is very reasonable.

I'm not sure how well Rhino/VisualMill could handle the task of designing (and sculpting) a detailed "artistic" 3D design.
ArtCam and VS3D can definitely perform that sort of task. Of course, I'm biased towards VS3D because I developed that program.
Can Rhino/VisualMill emboss and carve "3D" designs from digital photos ?
