I have a 2 1/2 year old Benchtop PRT. Today I downloaded sb 239sx. During installation I got an error message that a "PI" file was bad or missing. I believe it's a PIF file. The installation never completed. I removed the program, deleted the Shopbot folders, downloaded sb239sx again. Reinstalled again. Same problem. What am I doing wrong.

Hey Phil,

Had that computer been running an earlier version of the DOS software or is this the first time you've tried installing the software on this computer? If it's the first time on this computer, what version of Windows? The version 2 DOS software won't install on XP or 2000...there's no DOS in them.

The computer was running an earlier Windows version of SB. The computer is at work, I think Windows 2000 is on the machine. Which version of SB should I download?
I have an older computer with Windows 98 that I use to run the Shopbot. I have been using a DOS version of SB on that machine. Which version of SB would you reccommend for that machine?

I think I have it now. I didn't read very carefully. Ver 3.4.19PRT for Windows. SB239sx_m for the DOS.

Hey Phil,

I'd suggest running the newest Windows software (it's 3.4.19) on both of them if you can, but if the shop computer has a slow processor or not much memory you'll probably have to run 239 on it. I have a Windows 98 computer at the shop with a 750mhz processor and 512megs of memory that runs version 3.4.19 just fine, but I probably wouldn't recommend anything much slower than that.

I installed 3.4.19 and got an error message:
C:\winnt\system32\dx8vb.dll
unable to register DLL/OCX 0X80070005

After installing and trying to run SB3 I got an error message "Runtime error '9' subscript out of range the program failed to run.

This is Phil O'Rourke, I'm having a log in problem with my computer at work. I don't have my password.

Hey Phil,

Looks like you might have an old version of DirectX...try Windows update to see if there's a newer version.
