I've been doing a variety of "stencils"over the years for people who paint parking lots, stadiums, etc. I make the stencil out of 4'by 8'sheets of plastic or luan, and they then lay them in place , and spray color through them. For years I've used a fairly "artistic" font which had differentiated my work from other people doing these stencils, but now one of my customers wants a simple, plain, "block" stencil font such as those you see in plastic packages at office supply houses. Does anyone have a source where I can buy/download such a font to save me the trouble of running out and purchasing, scanning, vectorizing a set of these letters? Thanks in advance..

Thanks guys. I have downloaded a few samples to show my customer so he can see what his options are. The problem being that he has some sort of stencil font in mind which he saw somewhere else ( and of course can't remember where..), and that font had NO serifs,it was "straight slab sided", and it also strongly resembled Times New Roman...Maybe if I overload him with choices he'll just tell me to make the choice on my own, so I can go back to the files I have already generated in the past.....

Sounds like customers are the same all over the world. Don't show him this (http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLD%2CGGLD:2005-07%2CGGLD:en&q=stencil%2Bfont)!

Bill,

I allways make my own. They are fast and easy, but more important you can use any font and adjust the appendadges accoring to the stifness of the substrate materials.

Thanks again to everyone. I called back the customer and asked him to specifically spell out what he was looking for ( a request which is usually met with a blank stare...) He stated that he had no objection to the font I had used on his projects for the last 3 years, but he really wanted m o r e r o o m between the letters...
