What program can I use to convert an .art to a .dxf?

I received a dxf file from a customer and the dimensions he has on the drawing are correct but when I measure in AutoCad they are not the size listed.
I rescaled the drawing in AutoCad and it now matches the dimensions it should be when remeasured.

When I import it into Part Wizard 2 and re-measure, it is way to small. example 21.5" (in AutoCad) = 2.5875" (in Part Wizard)

I think the problem is in AutoCad because when I set up the model size, the drawing is very small, in Part Wizard.

You can rescale it again in PW. If the DXF file is the text version of DXF you can read it (with some effort) and see what the values and scale factors are.

What happens when you open the original DXF in PW? Do the dimensions come out correct?

The .art file is from either Part Wizard, Insignia or ArtCAM. Insignia and ArtCAM can export and save the dxf, Part Wizard, I dont believe, can. If you do not have ArtCAM or Insignia, see if you can find someone that has the program and will convert them for you.

We occasioanlly run into this when receiving dxf's or eps's from local sign comapnies that we cut for. We have them select autocad ver 12 as the dxf format for export and have not had a scaling problem.

Thanks for the help! I always use the ver 12 and have not had any problems. This was from a customer on the east coast and I could not get in contact with him.

Dana - I was not aware you could open a DFX directly with PW2. I tried it and it did open with the correct size.

Wayne- happy to have helped! Don't forget you can (sometimes) open the DXF with a text editor and just read it yourself. Its cryptic, but I have had to do that a few times. Each time it gets easier. Kind of like reading a G-Code file. Mere humans can do it!
